Regular sexual activity preserves potency equally as regular physical activity preserves health and body strength.
Men who do not use their erections are left without them in the end, a study of Finish scientists has shown. Middle-aged men should have sexual intercourse at least once a week if they do not want to encounter erectile dysfunction, CBSNews writes.
Regular sexual activity preserves potency equally as regular physical activity preserves health and body strength, claims Juha Koskimaki of the Tempera University, who headed the study.
Scientists have studied sexual activity and potency of men between the ages of 55 and 75 over a 5-year period.
The average age encompassed by the research was 59. Four out of five were married or co-habiting. Over a half of the objects had excessive weight problems and at least one chronic medical condition.
For men of this age and such a medical condition, regular sexual activity is exceptionally important, at least once a week. Still, if they perform it three times a week, they will significantly lower the probability of developing erectile dysfunction.
The study has shown that men who have less that one morning erection per week are 2.5 times more likely to develop erectile dysfunction than those who have morning erections at least thee times a week. On the other hand, it is necessary to note that the research has not encompassed the frequency of masturbation and that these results only refer to sexual intercourse with another person. However, scientists believe that frequent masturbation protects men from erectile dysfunction.
